PICTshow 2.2 Manual
________________________________________________________________
PICTshow is a viewer/player application for the following file types:
- PICT files (also from PhotoCD's)
- GIF pictures
- Sound files (System 7 sound files)
- Quicktime Movies (requires Quicktime)
PICTshow 2.x is a much improved version of the older PICTshow 1.x versions.
I rewrote most of the code, fixed a lot of bugs and added a lot of new
functionality. See 'Version History' file for more details about this.
PICTshow requires System 7 and a color capable Macintosh.
Using PICTshow
________________________________________________________________
You simply add items by using the Add File/Add Folder buttons or by drag&drop
items onto PICTshow. When using drag&drop, you can add every item, also
folders and disks, and PICTshow will add just the items it understands.
By double-clicking onto one item in the list, you get an additional
information dialog, where you can enter a text (up to 255 characters) and
define the orientation (only PICT-files). In this dialog, you can also
set an individual delay time.
If Speech Manager is installed, the text will be spoken.
Using the 'Next' Popupmenu, you can define how the next item appears.
(Either after a specific time or after MouseClick/Return Key)
When holding the shift-key, the previous item will be showed.
'Show' starts the show. When using the enter key, only the selected items
are played. You can stop the show by pressing cmd-period.

Hints/Tips
________________________________________________________________
- Rotation requires a lot of memory. If you don't have much memory, don't use
╩╩this option.
- When PICTshow quits with an error, you should restart the computer because
╩╩some gobal setting are not restored.
- Resizing doesn't work with all resize settings. (Don't ask me why...)
- GIF pictures normaly don't have previews, so you won't be able to print
╩╩ a catalog from GIF pictures.
- The GIF decoder works using 24-bit offscreens. Therefore for best display
performance use 16 or 24 bit screen resolution. (In "Monitors" Control Panel)
- If PICTshow can't find the items for a saved show, put all items into
╩╩the same folder as the show file and try again.
Possible Additions

- TIF support
- Multiple screen support
- Display of alpha channel in 32-bit pictures
- AppleScript (Make PICTshow scriptable)
- Support for Quickdraw GX
- Individual transition for each picture
- PPC version
